Thought I'd take another stab at drawing Maedhros. My favorite of the brothers.
After having his right hand cut off in his rescue from Thangorodrim he "..recovered from his torment and became hale, but the shadow of his pain was in his heart; and he lived to wield his sword with left hand more deadly than the right had been." (Silmarillion - Return of the Noldor) Now, learning how sword fight with your left hand, that's one thing. But I always wondered how he ever managed to lace up his boots! Last time I drew Maedhros back in March last year ([link]) I had his hair ragged and short. I presumed that it would have been non-concentually cut during his torture at Angband. The fact that hair grows an awful lot in 50 years was apparently lost of me... D'uh! EDIT:  Some of you pointed out that he wouldn't be able to shoot with a bow. lol! Good point!But if you look closely you'll see that I gave him some straps so he would be able to tie his handless arm to the bow. ...  Something else for him to tie!!Silmarillion (c) J R R Tolkien |
